Mbozi Haimbe

Mbozi Haimbe was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia. Whether realist or speculative, short stories or long-form prose, all of Mbozi’s fiction is inspired by Africa. Her short story, ‘Madam’s Sister’ won the Africa region prize of the Commonwealth Short Story Prize 2019, and a 2020 PEN America/Robert J. Dau Prize. Her short story ‘Shelter’ won first runner up for Short Story Day Africa 2020.

Mbozi has a Master of Studies in Creative Writing from the University of Cambridge. She recently completed her debut novel, which explores climate change through an Afrofuturistic lens. Mbozi also enjoys scriptwriting, and was part of the writing team for a tele-novella set in Lusaka. She splits her time between the UK and Zambia.
